Metalcaucho sponsors the Sant Cugat team at Panda Raid

The company has provided spare parts of rubber and metal for Ubald de Azpiazu and Joan Molinera vehicles, which finished in the top 30 classified

The Panda Raid is a long distance and resistance amateur rally held annually in Morocco. The physical and mental capabilities of the equipment and the mechanical resistance of the vehicles are measured through seven stages

The Sant Cugat team, sponsored by Metalcaucho, finances solidarity projects such as the construction of a nursery school in Morocco and actions related to the environment. The goal is not to win, it is to enjoy, test yourself and reach the finish line

Metalcaucho, the leading European supplier of aftermarket spare parts in rubber and metal for the automotive sector, collaborated as a sponsor of the Sant Cugat team at Panda Raid. This competition, which this year reached its eleventh edition, is an amateur rally, held annually in March, where more than a hundred teams are launched into the adventure aboard an old vehicle.

The contribution of Metalcaucho was with what they do best, through rubber and metal spare parts for the two vehicles with which they participated, a Seat Panda and a Seat Marbella. Among the items he provided were exhaust mounts, engine mounts, zipper boots kit, oil sumps, gear cables, brake hoses and a large assortment of hoses. These are difficult part numbers to find because of their age, so the slogan is “If it exists, Metalcaucho has it”.

The teams were formed by Ubald de Azpiazu and Anna Nadal on the one hand, being their third participation in the test, and highlighting that in the 2018 edition they had managed to finish in third position. The other team was composed of Joan Molinera and Toni Castillo, being for both their second participation, and the first to run together. Notable is the work of Toni Castillo, who in the 2017 edition achieved victory in one of the stages.

A career with seven demanding stages and extreme fellowship. The terrain of southern Morocco through which they traveled is full of dry rivers of sand (oueds), infinite plains in which there are no elements for orientation, mixing of pavements, fast tracks that invite you to step on the throttle thoroughly…

The participation of the Sant Cugat team (a town near Barcelona to Rubí, where Metalcaucho has its facilities) went from less to more, starting with many difficulties in the first two stages, but going back in the following. In this edition, both vehicles finished in positions 29 and 30 respectively, of the 4×2 category (two-wheel drive), after overcoming an infinite number of obstacles and difficulties with the only purpose of having fun and reaching the goal every day.

From Metalcaucho they are delighted to collaborate with this test, since the Panda Raid is a rally conscious and committed to the natural and social environment. Thus, through the GoodPlanet Foundation (which carries out actions to compensate for carbon emissions), it will estimate a joint emission in metric tons of CO2, and the organization will invest the money equivalent to these emissions in solidarity actions, such as construction and development of a children’s bioclimatic school in Ait Ahmed, and encourage beekeeping and the maintenance of biodiversity in the Mesguina forest. They are granites of sand in the desert, but granite to granite becomes a mountain.
